Visa Validity & Stay

A study permit is usually valid for the length of your study program, plus an extra 90 days. This 90-day window lets you prepare to leave Canada or apply to extend your stay (e.g., applying for a PGWP). If your school asks you to take prerequisite courses, your permit may only be valid for the length of those courses.
